Laura and Ryan | Charleston Wedding Photography

Laura and Ryan met in 2008 at a Smith Street house party hosted by Laura and her College of Charleston roommates. Ryan, then a student at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command, came along with his Navy buddies. While they now reside in Washington state, Charleston - the city where their love blossomed - was a natural choice to tie the knot. The ceremony and reception at Magnolia Plantation were nothing short of dreamy, with glam pink and gold accents set against the antebellum oaks. It's obvious that these two each got to marry their best friend - just take a look at those 1000 watt grins!

As the bride tells it, their story goes like this:

We met on August 25th, 2008 in Charleston, SC. At the time of our meeting, Ryan was a Naval student at Nuclear Power School and I was a college student at the College of Charleston. They met at a house party I was hosting, and when I opened the door, Ryan was so taken aback that he said "Whoa," and that was the only word he uttered for the rest of the night. Later, Ryan would tell me that he did not say anything else to me because he was afraid he would say something stupid, but I just thought he was shy (which, of course, turned out not to be true at all).

Looking back, Ryan would tell you it was love at first sight, but I was not so sure. However, due to Ryan's incredible charm and dashing good looks, I was soon swept off my feet. A (very) short six months after their initial meeting, I agreed to go on a date with him. Ryan would tell you that he asked me for this first date about six times, while I would tell you it was only three. Our first date was a beautiful dinner at The Charleston Grill, as Ryan knew that the fastest way to my heart was through my stomach.
I knew I was in love with Ryan when I walked downstairs one evening after finishing her homework (yes Mom and Dad... I actually did do homework on occasion during college) to find Ryan folding his t-shirts into perfectly creased rectangles. Ryan knew he was in love with me after he had moved all of her belongs from house to house four times within two years. Yes, I moved a lot.

We went on many adventures together during "the early years" including to Hilton Head Island, Savannah, the Bahamas, and of course, home to meet each other's wonderful parents in Colorado Springs, CO, and Dayton, OH. During this time,  we made the most important investment of their lives by purchasing their precious English Labrador Retriever, Sam, whom they affectionately call "Sam the Dog."

When I graduated from college and Ryan finished his time at Nuclear Power School (he had graduated and become an instructor during their time in Charleston), we made the decision to move to Washington State. Ryan would tell you he chose to move to Washington because he wanted to be on a boomer submarine, but I would tell you I chose to move to Washington because Ryan wanted me to move with him, and gave me the choice of where to move next. Moving to Port Orchard, WA was an amazing journey for us, as we purchased a beautiful home and have enjoyed living there since. Our relationship was tried through several lengthy deployments and home renovations, but we stuck together. Each day, we amaze and surprise one another with devotion and love.

Jennifer & Alan | Thomas Bennett House Wedding | Charleston Wedding Photography

It's not often I get to share a wedding as sweet and personal as this one. Jennifer and Alan decided to tie the knot in a small, private ceremony on the lush lawn of Charleston's historic Thomas Bennett House in April, and it couldn't have been a more romantic day. The ceremony and reception were filled with unique touches, like wood cut cake toppers honoring the bride and groom's respective heritages (Ireland for him, and the good old USA for her), and even a tiny monogrammed tree slice to present the rings! Speaking of details, can we talk about that dress? Jennifer's jaw dropping Art Deco inspired beaded gown in dusty rose was the perfect choice to complement her side swept auburn hair. Their ear-to-ear grins are contagious, and I couldn't be happier for these sweethearts!

Allison & Kevin | Creek Club at I'on Wedding | Charleston SC Wedding Photographer

Happy Friday, everyone! I couldn't be more excited to share some favorites from Allison and Kevin's gorgeous August wedding at the Creek Club at I'On, right here in Charleston. This stunning bride also happens to run the show over at Peachfully Chic, where she shares tips and inspiration for graceful living through the eyes of a true southern belle. Allison dishes about the wedding, and shares the amazing Charleston vendors that helped create their big day along with DIY tutorials for their adorable signage here on her blog!

Their late summer Lowcountry wedding was filled with fresh details. I especially love the blue color palette: their precious nephews even wore dapper blue bow ties to match the groom. Too cute! Allison glowed in a classic gown with a sparkling embellished waist sash, her golden locks pulled into a chic low chignon, while her hydrangea and white rose bouquet played nicely with the sky blue gowns and matching necklaces sported by the bridesmaids. Despite the August heat, this was one of my favorite Charleston weddings, and I'm honored to share it!

A Signature Welcome Spring Editorial Shoot | Charleston SC Wedding Photographer

Is anybody else sick of this cold weather? I sure am. There's nothing like springtime in Charleston, and I can't wait for the creeping jessamine flowers and beach days! To make this bleak cold a bit more bearable, I'm sharing this sunny shoot I did with the fabulous ladies at A Signature Welcome. Not only do they curate the coolest welcome boxes, they are total babes with serious style. I love the fresh, coordinated (but not too much) look they chose, and can't wait for scooter weather!
